Welcome to Pxlated 👾

Pxlated is a free pixel art editor currently in beta. I’ve been building it as a solo developer and decided to release it early for anyone who wants to try it, share feedback, report bugs, or follow along as it grows.

Pxlated isn’t meant to replace or copy existing programs. The goal is to gradually introduce independent features and tools that make creating pixel art more flexible, customizable, and fun.

• Drawing tools: pen, eraser, fill, line, shapes, and text
• Customizable UI and brushes
• Generate ramps and organize color pallets
• Layers and basic animation support
• Canvas resizing and zoom controls
• Import color palettes from PNG files, including Lospec-compatible palettes
• Export artwork as PNG or GIF
• Web version playable directly in your browser
• Desktop versions for Windows and Mac
  

In Progress and Known Issues

• The interface is still being updated to match the desktop version
• The text tool currently has some bugs
• Copying and pasting may include blank pixels
• Occasional visual glitches may appear when switching canvas modes; restarting the program usually fixes them

Why Pxlated?

I started creating pixel art in Photoshop and wanted a program that offered more control, smoother workflows, and deeper customization specifically for pixel artists.

That’s what I’m working toward with Pxlated—including features such as interface themes, smarter color tools, improved animation workflows, and more ways to customize the program around how you create.

Pxlated is still very much a work in progress, but updates are being released frequently.

The program is completely free while it’s in beta.
